MULTAN: A number of activists of Anjuman Mazareen Punjab on Tuesday staged a protest against what they alleged the acquisition of land for Khanewal-Lodhran highway without compensation of their land and crops.

The protesters gathered at Chak No87-10/R near Khanewal-Jahanian bypass where work is under way by the provincial highway department. They got the work stopped at the site.

They said the construction of bypass for heavy traffic was under way without paying compensation money to the tenants. They said the notice was issued to tenants by the respective department.

They said they would continue with their protest and won`t allow construction work until payment of compensation.
