Rs1.5bn science & technology institute to be set up in Thar

KARACHl: The Sindh government has decided to establish Thar Institute of Engineering, Science & Technology (TIEST) in Mithi with initial cost of Rs1.5 billion.
The institute will start functioning with 60 students from academic session starting in October, 2019 from the building of the Benazir Cultural Complex in Mithi while the complex of the TIEST would be built over an area of 317 acres located in village Minthrio Bhatti, 18km from Mithi on main Islamkot Road.
The decision to this effect was taken by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday while presiding over a meeting held to discuss and decide the establishment of the institute.
Vice Chancellor of the NED University Dr Sarosh Lodhi briefing the CM said that the academic council of NED had approved 60 seats for TIEST, Mithi, including 46 regular and 14 self-finance.
The chief minister directed the officials concerned to move a summary for allotment of the land.
The chief minister was informed that the syndicate of the NED University had approved the budget of Rs2.09bn from 2019-20 budget for the TIEST.
The chief minister directed the finance department to release Rs120m immediately and approved the enhancement of allocation.
Transfer of officers ordered In order to establish good governance in provincial departments, the Sindh chief minister has decided to transfer all those officers who are holding same positions for the past three years.
He took this decision in a meeting held to review performance of different departments at CM House.
