Governor`s assurances to KU teachers

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad met a delegation comprising teachers, the vice chancellor and the registrar of Karachi University on Monday at Governor House and listened to their grievances regarding the recent murder of Prof Shakeel Auj.

The governor, sources said, assured teachers that reasonable compensation would be paid to the family of the late professor and efforts would be made to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.

`He also gave the assurance that the government would give a residential plot to the family of the deceased professor,` said Mohammad Moiz Khan representing the Karachi University Teachers Society. The governor also accepted the teachers` request that security cameras should be installed the campus and on University Road, he added.

A general body meeting of teachers` society, he said, scheduled to be held on Tuesday would decide on resuming teaching activities on the campus.

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Karachi police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo, DIG East Munir Ahmed and Principal Secretary to the governor M.

Hussain Syed also attended the meeting.
