Tribesman claims killing of family in Tirah air strike

LANDI KOTAL: Air strike in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency has killed six members of a family on Sept 19, the family head Iqbal Shah told reporters in Jamrud on Tuesday.
Mr Shah said that he was the lone survivor of the deadly air strike which destroyed his mud house in Morga mountainous region close to the Afghan border.
Mr Shah, who worl(s as shepherd, said that he along with his son Sinthree Khan and a herd of lambs had just returned from Nangarhar province ofAfghanistan when the air force planes bombed the area. He belonged to Katiyakhel sub-tribe of Kukikhel.
With tears rolling down his eyes, he said that the bombing killed his son Sinthree Khan, daughterin-law and four grandsons.
Mr Shah said that he fled to Jamrud after burying six of his family members in haste as he feared more air strikes. He, however, denied there were any militant hideouts in the area where he lived.
Security officials had claimed that 18 suspected militants were killed in the air strikes.
