KHAR: Four people were killed and a woman was injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them inside their house in Bajaur Agency’s Salarzai tehsil late on Monday night, local people and officials said.

They said that the incident took place in Chargo locality, 23 kilometers off here. Local people said that unidentified armed men entered a house located in Chargo village and opened fire with automatic weapons on the people who were sleeping in two separate rooms.

Four people, including a teenager, died on the spot and a woman was injured in the firing. The attackers soon escaped from the scene.

The injured woman was taken to the agency headquarters hospital. The deceased were identified as Farhad Khan, Bacha Khan, Dawad Khan and eight-year-old Nawar Khan.

Officials of the administration said that the victims belonged to Mardan district and they had been living in the area for the past several years. Later, the bodies were taken to their native area in Mardan district.

Local administration officials examined the crime scene and kicked off investigation to ascertain motives behind the incident. According to the officials, personal enmity could be the motive for the killings.

They said that according to their information personal dispute could be the cause of the incident. The officials said that a number of local people were being investigated in the case to find out cause of the incident.—Correspondent
