Chinese experts discuss social, environmental side of development

LAHORE: A Chinese delegation of experts on environmental and social issues in infrastructure development on Thursday visited the Punjab University`s National Centre for Resettlement and Rehabilitation (NCRR). The delegation comprises Dr Ren Jingming, Mr Guo Ermin and Dr Zhu Yuan from Appraisal Centre for Environment and Engineering(ACEE), China and Dr Jiang Yuan from Beijing Normal University participated in a discussion on `Infrastructure Development and Environmental Conservation` at the PU.
The event was presided over by PU Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences Director and Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar.
The Chinese delegates gave their expert opinion on the socioenvironmental challenges in the context of different projectsbeing initiated in Pakistan with China`s cooperation.
Mr Irfanul Haq and Mr Imranul Haq, representing Nespak, talked about social and environmental aspects of development projects.
The representatives of academia, Wapda, National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) and various national organisations working in the relevant area in Pakistan were also present.
Meanwhile, a PU spokesmanbeing initiated in Pakistan with China`s cooperation.

Meanwhile, a PU spokesmansaid on Thursday that the varsity`s examinations department had notified the last date for receipt of admission forms and fees for the B.Com, Part-II, second annual examination (2016) that will be held from Oct 3.
NAVTTC: The level of technical education in Pakistan is being raised to match international standards and the skills being imparted in the youth by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission would help them find employ-ment opportunities.
These views were expressed by the NAVTTC Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema while addressing the participants of certificate distribution ceremony for Competency Based Training assessor`s course.
He further said the certificate issued by NAVTTC was recognised all over the world which would ultimately open the international job market for local skilled youth.
