SUKKUR: An armed clash between two rival groups left three people dead and four others wounded in a village located within the jurisdiction of the Rasaldar police station of Kandhkot on Sunday.

The groups, one belonging to the Golo community and the to the Khoso tribe, are embroiled in an old enmity over an honour case. On Sunday, they attacked each other with firearms.

The clash resulted in the death of Zahoor Ahmed, Nawaz Ali Khoso and Rahib Ali Golo. Four other persons, Sheeraz Khan, Suhail, Mohsin Khoso and Misri Golo with bullet wounds were taken to a government hospital in Kandhkot for treatment.

A late evening report said that the rival sides had taken up positions in their respective localities within the village and firing shots intermittently. The situation remained tense and police were trying to restore law and order.

Local reporters said that the Khoso community took away their dead after medico-legal formalities. However, members of the Golo community did not take custody of their victims in protest against failure of the police to arrest the those who attacked them.

They said their community members had been confined to their homes due to fear and panic but police were not intervening to ensure their protection.

They said that a big group of Khoso community members had resorted to attacking Golos last month and police were informed of the aggravating situation.

However, no action was taken to protect their community members in the following weeks with the results that Golos had been living in fear. They deplored that the attackers had been roaming around freely as the culprits of the previous incidents were not arrested and taken to task. They said they would bury their dead only after the killers were arrested.
