Unfortunately, the people of Karachi are suffering owing to the local administration`s apathetic attitude to the milk situation.
Consumers are provided substandard milk by retailers, who remove the cream and sell it separately. These are the findings of an inquiry that found most milk samples in Karachi unfit for human consumption.
It seems dairy farmers, wholesalers and retailers have their way at the expense of the voiceless consumers who are the 20 million citizens of Karachi. This is happening under the nose of the Commissioner of Karachi.
No steps have been tal(en to impose a price control mechanism that caters judiciously to the citizens` interests.
The authorities need to take strict action in this respect.
