PPP condemns dissolution of PMDC

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) has condemned the government`s move to dissolve Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
`It seems that PTI is out to destroy Pakistan`s institutions as announced by a federal minister recently,` said PPP Central Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah.
`PPP considers this a move to destabilise medical profession and healthcare in Pakistan. Further, about 200 people will lose their jobs as a result of this senseless move. Already the doctors in KP and in the Punjab are suffering under the policy of gross commercialization of healthcare. This move will further create chaos in an already appalling state of medical system of the country, destroying existing institutions,` she said.
`At the same time we also condemn the promulgation of the so-called Pakistan Medical Commission Ordinance, 2019`, a similar ordinance the Senate had already struck down. We consider this no less than a coup on healthcare in Pakistan as this ordinance has been imposed after bypassing the parliament. PPP will oppose this move with full force,` she said. Staff Reporter
