QUETTA: Preparations to vaccinate around 16 million children in Balochistan during a three-day antipolio campaign beginning on Wednesday are complete.

Provincial Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Coordinator Syed Faisal Ahmed said on Tuesday that children under the age of five in Dera Bugti, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Nasirabad, Jafarabad, Khuzdar, Pishin, Loralai, Quetta, Jhal Magsi, Zhob, Sherani and other high-risk districts would be vaccinated against the disease.

Some 6,050 teams of vaccinators 5,148 mobile, 420 at fixed spots and 482 at transit points would ensure administering drops to all children, he said, adding that strict security measures had been taken to prevent any untoward incident.

Personnel of police, Frontier Corps and Levies will be deployed to protect the vaccinators and religious scholars will also be asked to persuade parents refusing vaccination of their children.
