10 flights cancelled at IIA due to bad weather

RAWALPINDI: Ten flights were cancelled at the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) on Thursday due to bad weather.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight for Gilgit, PK-606 which was scheduled to arrive at IIA at 9:20am and depart back for Gilgit as flight PK-608 at 9:50am was cancelled.
PK-452 scheduled to arrive from Skardu at 1:30pm was cancelled as was PK-451 which was to depart for Skardu at 10:30am.
PIA’s flight for Zhob, PK-690 which was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad at 2:05pm was cancelled due to unavailability of a plane and PK-689 from Islamabad to Zhob was also cancelled due to the same reason.
PK-249 for Kabul was cancelled due to bad weather as was the same plane scheduled to return to Islamabad as PK-250.
A PIA spokesperson said the airline cannot take the risk of operating flights in bad weather in the interests of passenger safety and that the flight schedule will resume once the weather becomes suitable.—Staff Reporter
