Electrician`s murder case resolved; killer arrested

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Gojra police have resolved a blind murder case involving an electrician that occurred on Oct 16 and arrested the alleged killer.

According to the police statement on Wednesday, Muhammad Yasin was found shot dead in his shop outside the grain market in Gojra.

Initially, a case against an unidentified murderer was registered. However, the police traced the presence of Muhammad Arsalan at his shop during the time of the murder. Arsalan confessed to shooting Yasin after a heated argument over the repair of his energy saver bulb.

KILLED: Two people were killed in crossfire between two rival groups in Kabirwala tehsil`s Sarai Sadhu police station area, Chak Shukruwala, on Wednesday.

Both groups, belonging to the same family, had ongoing litigation over property.The conflict escalated when one group attempted to occupy the disputed farmland, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Two people, one from each group, were injured and were shifted to the Kabirwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased were identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Hiraj and Muhammad Akmal Hiraj. The police have arrested several people from both rival groups.

SEMINAR: Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, president of the Pakistan Psychiatric Society and chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Faisalabad Medical University, says the country must work to address the alarming impact of drug addiction.

Speaking at a narcotics awareness seminar held by the UAF Department of Rural Sociology on Wednesday, Dr Dogar saidthat 700 people die daily due to drug addiction.

He said awareness to combat this societal menace should be disseminated among youth, urging a focus on positive activities such as exercise, yoga, and religion to counteract the growing trend of drug use among the youth.

Dean Social Sciences Prof Dr Khalid Mushtaq said that parents should pay a special attention on their children so that they can play their active role in the development.

Rural Sociology Chairman Dr Izhar Ahmed said that the character building of students has been the special focus of UAF.

He elaborated that to cope with the depression and downfall in life, we have to develop a firm connection with the religion.

ACCIDENT: Two people died and as many were injured seriously when a 22-wheeler trailer hit a motorcycle rickshaw on Wednesday evening at Faisalabad on SamundriRoad near Dasuha Canal bridge.

According to Rescue 1122 and Roshanwala police, one deceased was Aneesa Maqbool and other deceased could not be identified.

Injured people Sonia Asif and Noureen were shifted to the DHQ hospital.

JOURNALIST COLONY: A meeting was held between Faisalabad Development Authority Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry and a delegation of Faisalabad Press Club office bearers on Wednesday.

The discussion revolved around the establishment of a journalist colony in Faisalabad.

Mr Chaudhry suggested the option of allocating the overseas block in FDA City for the journalist colony, pending approval from the governing body.

The delegation members decided to write to the caretaker chief minister for approval of the land in FDA City for this purpose.
