SAHIWAL: In an intelligence-based operation, the regional office of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in collaboration with the police, arrested a banned-outfit militant in the Chichawatni vicinity.

The CTD recovered explosive material, detonators, dry batteries, electric circuits, and switches used for improvised blasts. The militant, identified as Waheedullah in the mid-30s, belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s Mohmand area.

He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. The CTD claimed the militant was planning to create fear on alarger scale.

MEETING: The firstever meeting of the highlevel committee formed by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to resolve protesting government employees` demandsunder the banner of the All Government Employee Grant Alliance will be held at the School Education Department on Friday.

The six-member committee, chaired by Minister for School Education Department and Higher Education Department Mansoor Qadir was formed on Nov 1. The committee has a mandate to come up with workable recommendations within 21 days.

Interestingly, the committee meeting is being held on the last day of their mandate.

Dawn has learned from sources that five provincial secretaries from the Finance, S&GA, School Education, Higher Education, Primary and Secondary Healthcare departments, along with five Agega leaders-Zafater Ali Khan, Bashir, Waheed Murad, Rehman Ali Bajwa, Rukhsana Anwar, and Tariq Qaleem have been called for a meeting.
