LAHORE: Employees and pensioners of Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) on Wednesday protested for payment of monthly pensions and its timely disbursement.

The protesters staged a demonstration outside the Transport House to demand implementation of Supreme Court`s direction regarding the payment of double pension and the timely disbursement of monthly pension and allowances.

A large number of pensioners, widows and children participated in the protest.

Transport Department Secretary Ahmed Javaid Qazi along with additional secretary and finance director approached the protesters and held negotiations with them.

The negotiators decided that the payment of pension for the current month would commence from Nov 23 (today) and future disbursement would be made by the 4th of each month. Additionally, pensioners will be exempted from biometric verification every month, and it will only be required after every six months.
