KARACHI: On the occasion of the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the federal government has issued a commemorative coin of Rs55 denomination.
According to a press release issued by the State Bank of Pakistan on Friday, the coin consists of 79pc brass, 20pc zinc and 1pc nickel while it measures 30mm in diameter and weighs 13.5 grams.
On the obverse side, there is the crescent moon and five-pointed star facing north-west in a rising position in the center. Along with the periphery on the top of the crescent star is inscribed in wording ‘Islami Jamhuria Pakistan’ in Urdu script. Below the crescent and on the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward.
On the reverse side, picture of the monument of Guru Nanak is shown in the centre along reference to ‘555th Birthday Celebrations’ and ‘SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI’ written at the bottom.
The coin is available at the exchange counters of all the field offices of the SBP from Friday.
