MINGORA: Scores of visitors thronged the Swat River on Sunday to enjoy local varieties of fish as temperature in the scenic valley plummeted to freezing point.

The sellers have set up huts and shanties along the riverbank from Fizzagut to Madyan to serve fish to the visiting families, whose number has increased with decrease in the temperature. At least 90 different varieties of fish are found in the Swat River of which trout is the most deliclous but also very expensive.

One kilogram of fried trout is sold at Rs1,000 at these outlets on the riverbank.

However, local allege that the hut owners mostly bring fish from Rawalpindi and other cities.
