QUETTA: A huge forest fire that erupted in the mountainous region of Kishk, located some 20 kilometres from the town of Kohlu, was successfully contained on Friday night, officials said.
The blaze rapidly spread over an area of around four kilometres, Kohlu`s deputy commissioner said, adding that the quickresponse units of Levies and other relevant authorities were swiftly mobilised to the area.
These teams, navigating through challenging terrain, arrived promptly at the scene to put out the fire, he said.
Their efforts were primarily focused on safeguarding human lives and properties, especially in areas where forest guards were not present. The fire, which severely impacted a large section of the forest, resulted in the destruction of hundreds of trees and shrubs.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained.
