Dera TMA fails to resolve issues despite Rs200m grant

2024-12-23
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Despite the allocation of a substantial Rs200 million grant by the provincial government, the local tehsil municipal administration (TMA) failed to resolve its persistent problems.

Despite the significant financial injection, employees remain unpaid. The TMA administration managed to pay only two-and-a-half months` salaries to employees and three months` pensions to retirees. However, performance in other areas of the TMA remains ineffective.

Seven months` worth of salaries and six months of pensions remain outstanding, leaving many workers and retirees in financial distress. The mismanagement goes beyond unpaid dues, as citizens are facing significant challenges in processing bills and accessing municipal services. Additionally, the tehsil municipal officer (TMO) is reportedly absent from his official duties, allegedly conducting worl( from his residence and lavish rest houses instead of the office. Attempts to contact the TMO for a response to these allegations were unsuccessful.

TMA employees and pensioners have appealed to Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and provincial authorities to take immediate notice of the poor situation at the TMA. They have called for comprehensive reforms within the TMA and an end to the corruption that has plagued the administration. Correspondent
