PTI leaders warned against attempts to divide party

By Our Staff Reporter 2016-01-24
LAHORE: The election commission of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has advised the party leaders to avoid creating groups and panels for the intra-party elections; otherwise, disciplinary action will be taken against them.

PTI Chief Election Commissioner Tasneem Noorani held a meeting with party`s Punjab Election Commissioner retired Col Ejaz Hussain Minhas and party`s membership training team at the chairman`s secretariat here on Saturday.

The meeting reviewed party`s membership campaign as well as technical problems being faced by the party workers.

Different `groups` are already lobbying for the intra-party election by holding meetings with workers and leaders, the election commission has noted with concern that the party leaders are positioning these groups as Alliance/Forum, etc.

Mr Noorani said the party membership held so far and discussed certain lacunae and loopholes in the process.

The meeting was told that the new members were required to send their names and CNIC number through SMS on 90088.

MEETING: Former PTI Punjab president Ejaz Chaudhry met the party`s senior leader Hamid Khan advocate and discussed issues regarding intra-party election.

They agreed to launch joint struggle to get due rights for the workers as well as taking intra-party elections down to the union council level.

Speaking at workers` meeting at the Lawrence Road, Hamid Khan stressed the intra-party elections should be held at the union council level also.

He acknowledged party election commission`s argument that those won at UCs on party tickets should be allowed to organise the party in their jurisdiction and similar treatment be given to those, who lost election on party ticket.

`The capitalists and feudals must be thrown out of the party,` he asserted, saying the fruits of Imran Khan`s dream must trickle down to the poor, labourers and the common people.

CONVENTION: PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar says the incumbent rulers` failed policies are more dangerous than `swine flu` for the country as well as the whole nation.

He also named the rulers as `liars rulers` for failing to fulfill their promise of ending loadshedding within six months.

He said the power and gas loadshedding had `burnt` the industry.
