500 drivers fined for using tinted glass, rule violations

TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir police on Saturday issued tickets to 500 drivers for using tinted glass in their vehicles and violating traf fic rules.
A special team comprising DSP headquarters Hageeg Hussain, SHO Timergara Roshan Zada, district traffic in-charge Hazrat Hussain and Khall traffic in-charge Shad Mohammad carried out the operation and checked vehicles on different routes.
Tinted glasses from hundreds of vehicles were removed on the spot.
The officials also took action against under-age drivers, and non-registered vehicles.
Talking to journalists DSP Hageeg Hussain said the operation was being conducted in the wake of the Charsadda carnage.
He said the crackdown would continue across the district.
Also in the day, the local administration continued its anti-encroachment drive and action against profiteers.
A raiding party led by assis-tant commissioner, Timergara, Mohammad Ayaz Momand visited different markets in the city and checked cleanliness, quality and rates of various items.
The team sent 10 shopkeepers to jail and fined 15 more for violating official pricelist, not maintain hygiene at their outlets and encroaching spaces outside their shops.
SPECIAL PACKAGE DEMANDED: The Lower Dir journalists on Saturday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to announce a special package for the slain journalist, Mehboob Shah Afridi, who was 1(illed in a suicide blast at Karkhano market, Peshawar.
The demand was made at a joint meeting of the district press club and Dir Union of Journalists.
The meeting lauded KP Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan for announcing financial assistance for heirs of the deceased journalist nominating him for presidential award.Correspondent
