Govt committed to welfare of livestock farmers: MPA

SWAT: The chairman of standing committee of provincial assembly on livestock, fisheries and cooperatives, MPA Sher Ali Afridi has said that provincial government is committed to prioritising welfare of livestock farmers.

He made these remarks during his visit to Saanen Goat Production Research Station in Charbagh, Swat, on Thursday. He was accompanied by members of standing committee Obaidur Rehman, Abdul Muneem, Adeel Iqbal and Khalid Khan and MPA Ali Shah Khan, directors general of livestock Dr Asal Khan and Mohammad Ijaz, Vice-chancellor Dawood Jan, district director Dr Sar Buland Khan, director of Azikhel farm Dr Ijaz Ahmed, senior veterinary officer Dr Sardar Ali and other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Sher Ali Afridi said that provincial government was taking concrete steps for the welfare of livestock farmers. He assured full cooperation to the station and pledged to resolve its issues on a priority basis.

`The development of this station is directly linked to the progress of the region. We will provide comprehensive support to local livestock farmers and ensure provision of high quality feed for goats,` he said.

During the briefing, Mr Afridi was informed about the distribution process of Saanen goats to farmers. He showed interest in the farm and commended its efforts.

`Maintaining the farm`s standards is crucial, and we must continue to serve local farmers effectively,` he said.

Later, Mr Afridi along with other members visited the under-construction University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Ningolai, Swat. Vice-chancellor Dawood Jan briefed the delegation on the progress and developmental work of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Afridi said that the primary objective of establishing the university was to provide students with modern education and research opportunities. He said that initiation of teaching and research activities was essential to achieve that goal.
