MOENJODARO: President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto today [Feb 23] made a stirring call `to the nations of the world` to unhesitatingly meet the challenge of saving the archaeological site of Moenjodaro `through international help and cooperation` under the auspices of UNESCO. President Bhutto [was] inaugurating the International Symposium on Moenjodaro here... .

The symposium, attended by over 20 foreign delegates, marks the 50th anniversary of Moenjodaro excavation, first started by Sir John Marshall. President Bhutto in his brief address referring to the importance of the site, said that `Moenjodaro is a very important landmark in the panorama of human civilisation, and portrays with remarkable variedness the life of man as it was lived about 5,000 years ago.` Correspondent [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from New Delhi,] the Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Surender Pal Singh, [said] in Rajya Sabha today [Feb 23] that the Government was watching the situation arising out of the reported purchase of substantial quantities of United States arms by Iran. The Minister said India would endeavour to see that the arms purchased by Iran did not find their way to Pakistan. Moreover, it was clear that `Iran has every right to purchase arms, and India cannot object to it`.
