REFERENCE Saleem Shahid`s report `Scientist`s parents celebrate son`s feat at their dilapidated home` (March 21). Imran Khan of Balochistan who, along with his seven other colleagues, excelled in `gravitationalresearch`and deserves the highest praise from all Pakistanis.
Since Pakistanislaggingbehindin research, it needs many scientists like Mr Khan who should be given opportunities to excel in research activities in Pakistan.
I suggest there must be a talent pool in each university so that areas demanding research can be assigned to scholars concerned. Special attention is needed in the area of energy, both electricity and gas.
It is the responsibility of the federal and provincial governments to finance such projects.
I also suggest that the prime minister must also invite Mr Khan to Islamabad and give him a financial award as done by the Balochistan chief minister.
