LARKANA: Educational institutions, district administrations, government departments and political parties organised different programs in several Sindh towns to commemorate Pakistan Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on Sunday.

The University of Larkano celebrated the day by organising a quiz competition, a declamation contest and a walk, in which students took part with great gusto.Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Usman Keerio said the different events aimed to commemorate the historic Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of Pakistan.

In quiz competition and declamation contest, students formed Team Jinnah and Team Iqbal to compete against each other in a healthy manner. The students showcased their deep understanding of the Pakistan movement, key historical figures and significance of the 1940 Resolution.The boys` team emerged victorious in the contest, earning applause from the audience.

The walk symbolised unity, patriotism and a renewed commitment to national progress.

At Chandka Medical College, the Pakistan Day was observed with simplicity due to Jaffar Express tragedy and holy month of Ramazan.

The event commenced with a salute to national flag by the university`s security guards, followed by a walk titled `Pakistan Zindabad`.

The department of education organised a program at SirShahnawaz Bhutto Memorial Library and Pak Defenders, a civil society organisation, staged a rally to mark the day.

Pakistan Peoples Party, Larkana chapter, also held a gathering at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Library to mark the day in which local party leaders highlighted the significance of the day and opposed construction of six canals on Indus River.

Similar rallies and programs were organised in QambarShahdadkot, Shikarpur, Khairpur Mir`s and other districts.

In Badin, a big rally wasorganised by district administration to mark the day in which a large number of people, including officials of education, health, police, revenue and information departments, as well as members of social organisations, media, minority communities, civil society and students participated.

In Sukkur, IBA University staged s walk titled `Echoes of Resolution` to mark the Pakistan Day.

The university`s VC Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh said in his message: `Pakistan Day reminds us of the sacrificesand vision of our forefathers who aspired for an independent nation. This walk is a tribute to the unwavering resolve that led to the creation of our beloved country.

Students from different provinces of Pakistan participated in the walk. The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for Pakistan`s prosperity, unity and strength.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University organised a program to celebrate the day in which the university`s administration, students and school children participated.The university`s VC, Prof Dr Tehmina Mangan, said in her address: `We are living in a free country thanks to the sacrifices of our martyrs`.

She said that the aim of such programs was to make young generation aware of the country`s history and the sacrifices of martyrs for its survival.

Students of the Lab School, established by the university, presented a tableau which infused enthusiasm among the participants. At the end of the ceremony, the participants prayed for the progress and stability of Pakistan.
