MUZAFFARGARH: A wheat grower died of a cardiac arrest while waiting for his turn to receive gunny bags here on Sunday at Chowk Sarwar Shaheed food centre.
Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa will hold an inquiry into the incident.
Wheat farmer Ahmad was waiting for his turn to receive gunny bags (bardana). He had a cardiacarrest andwasrushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The food department had started wheat procurement from April 22. According to sources, this year the target from 17 procurement centres in Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh tehsils is131,000 metric ton.
They said each farmer would get 10 sacks per acre wheat and a maximum of 100 bags would be given to a farmer if he cultivated the crop on 100 acre.
District Food Controller Malik Mumtaz said 50 per cent of bardana would be issued in first two weeks.
DC Saif Anwar said he had received complaints about issuance of gunny bags and formed a cell.
On the other hand, a number of farmers are contacting patwaris for confirming their names while the revenue department officials are advising them to get their names confirmed at computerised section. Correspondent
