Girls school sought in oil producing Gurguri area

KAR AK: Former nazims of Gurguri union council here have demanded establishment of a girls high school in the area.

Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Aqal Baba and Raza Abbas said that Gurguri was contributing millions of rupees to the national GDP in shape of producing oil and gas, but the girls of the union council were deprived of higher education in this modern era.

They said despite their repeated requests to the authorities no heed was paid to establish a girls high school in the area.

The former nazims said their daughters were forced to quit education after passing the primary school. They regretted that oil and gas royalty funds were being utilised on development of other areas of the district as Gurguri was still deprived ofbasicnecessities oflife.

Mr Baba and Mr Abbas resolved to mobilise people for their rights as the incumbent PTI government had also failed to provide them their rights.

VARSITY CONTRIBUTION: Vice-Chancellor of Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak Prof Mirza Jan has said that the varsity is preparing students according to demand of the market with a view to bring socioeconomic development to the region.

He said this while addressing the 7th academic council meeting on Sunday. The meeting approved the recommendations of the first-ever board of studies of the economic and mathematics department of the government postgraduate college, Karak.

The meeting also accorded approval to the courses of different departments of the university.

The vice chancellor said all available resources would be utilised to enhance research activities in the university. He said the varsity was also taking steps for welfare of its employees. He stressed on the faculty to work with missionary spirit to impart quality education to students to prepare them for the modern day challenges.Correspondent
