Two killed; five robberies in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Two persons were killed in separate incidents, while robbers looted cash and valuables in five different strikes in the capital, police said on Monday.

Some relatives of Mohammad Asghar came to his house and started beating him when he came outside.

Asghar`s sister Zakhat Bibi rushed to his rescue, but the attackers also started beating her, following which she fell unconscious. The attackers managed to escape.

Asghar and his sister were taken to the hospital where Zakhat Bibi was pronounced dead.

According to Asghar, they had some monetary dispute with their relatives.

In another incident, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Dhoke Paracha.

The victim was waiting for public transport when the accident took place.

Separately, some burglars broke into the house of Mustafa Kamal in Bahria Town and made off with cashand gold ornaments.

The burglars looted Rs105,000 in cash and gold ornaments weighing 30 tolas.

The total value of the stolen items including cash was estimated at Rs1.6 million.

Likewise, some burglars stole Rs100,000 cash and gold ornaments weighing seven tolas from the house of Asif Mehmood located in the jurisdiction of Noon police station.

Two armed men came to a grocery store located in Javaid Market in G-6/2 and held its owner and customers hostage.

They then snatched Rs190,000 from the cash counter and Rs27,500 from customers before escaping on a motorcycle.

In another incident, Haris Ali, a property dealer, was held at gunpoint by two persons when he was waiting for his friend at Zia Masjid stop.

The culprits snatched Rs38,000 cash and mobile phone worth Rs80,000 from him before escaping in his car.

Two armed men intercepted Ateequr Rehman near Faizabad and snatched his motorcycle.
