Man, young son shot dead over children`s quarrel

KARACHI: A man and his young son were shot dead by their neighbour over a children`s quarrel in the Manghopir area on Tuesday evening, police said.

They identified the dead as Sarwar Hussain, 50, and his 25-year-old son Sarfraz. Sarwar`s wife Shabana Sehar, 48, and another son, Sheraz, 20, also suffered bullet wounds, they added.

Area SHO Nadeem Siddiqui said an altercation between neighbours took place in Zaibu Goth near Khulfa-i-Rashideen Masjid following a quarrel between their children.

He said that Sarwar`s neighbour opened indiscriminate firing on him and his other family members.

However, no further details were available as the police were investigating the matter.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Suspect shot dead A suspect was shot dead and another arrested in an injured condition after an `encounter` in North Nazimabad on Tuesday evening.

Shahrah-i-Noor Jahan police SHO Imran Afridi said that a police party signalled two men riding a motorbike to stop near Byco petrol pump in S-Block. But they resorted to firing in their bid to flee and in an ensuing exchange of firing, one alleged street criminal identified as Faizan was killed while his accomplice Naimatullah detained wounded.

The police claimed to have recovered one motorbike that was snatched from Nazimabad recently, one pistol and three cell phones from their custody.
