RAWALPINDI: An Adiala jail prisoner, arrested in a theft case, was allegedly sexually abused by two other prisoners.

When the victim approached the deputy superintendent with a complaint he was instructed to go back to his barrack and lodge the complaint with the superintendent the next morning.

However, he could not do as was directed by the deputy superintendent because the next day he had to appear before the court of law regarding his theft case.

Rehan Khan, a resident of Peshawar, presently living in Rawalpindi was arrested by Shalimar police Islamabad in a theft case (379/411) lodged an assault case with the Saddar Bairooni police saying that he had been in prison in a theft case registered on January 25, 2024 with Shalimar Police Islamabad.

He said that on May 18, he was in his barrack when two other prisoners forcibly sexually abused him. Later, he said that he approached the duty deputy superintendent of jail and narrated his ordeal he went through.

However, he said that the deputy superintendent instructed him to approach the jail`s superintendent the next day rather than taking any action against the two rapists. The rape victim was to appear before the court of law the next day to attend the proceeding of the case registered against him, therefore, he was unable to follow the directive of the deputy superintendent to approach the jail`s superintendent to get justice.

He said in the FIR that after he attended the proceeding of court the next day, he was released from the jail after completing his term of imprisonment; therefore, he could not approach the jail`s superintendent.

The victim also demanded in the FIR that he should be medical examined. A case under the relevant section of the law was registered with the Saddar Barooni police on the complaint of the victim after the medical examination was performed.
