Man killed as residents attack builder`s office in Manghopir

KARACHI: A man was killed and five others were injured when security guards posted at the office of a local builder in Manghopir opened fire to stop a mob from storming the office on Friday, police said.

Manghopir SHO Imran Ahmed Khan told Dawn area residents stormed the office of the Tasman Construction company, beat the employees and ransacked the property and damaged five motorcycles parked there.

He said the private guards resorted to firing, resultingin bullet injuries to two persons, identified as Shoaib and Muhammad Shah.

Four others, said to be employees of the builder, sustained injuries caused by hard and blunt instruments. One of them, identifie d as Abu Talib, 42, died at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The police claimed to have arrested two suspects.

The SHO said that a `personal dispute` had erupted between the builder and the residents around three months ago and the police were investigating the case to ascertainthe exactnature of the dispute.
