QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly approved the supplementary budget of over Rs34.50 billion for the year 2015-16.
The budget was presented in house by Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri on Wednesday.
Speaker Reheela Hamid Khan Durrani presided over the provincial assembly session.
The chief minister presented 23 demands for grants of funds. Of the 23 demands, eight seeking Rs21.584 billion for development expenditures and 15 seeking Rs12.917 billion for non-development expenditures, were approved by the assembly.
Opposition leader Maulana Abdul Waseyand other opposition members did not move a single cut motion on all the 23 demands for grant of funds.
The highest allocation of Rs8.962 billion in the budget was approved for development expenditures while Rs7.634 billion was approved for expenditures in the housing and community sector.
The provincial assembly also approved a demand for Rs2.215 billion for expenditure in the education sector and another demand for grant of Rs1.119 billion for environment protection.
On the non-development side, Rs4.439 billion was approved for secondary education and Rs3.762 billion for power sector expenditures. Another Rs1.62 billion was approved for civil works.
