Robberies in Wah on the rise

By Our Correspondent 2016-06-24
TAXILA: Robberies have increased in various rural areas in Wah, with the police seemingly not being able to do anything about the problem.

Residents of the area under the jurisdiction of police station number four told Dawn that a gang of robbers are active in the area and were on a looting spree the last couple of weeks in which they had targeted at least a dozen homes.

In a recent incident, two armed robbers scaled the walls of the house of Inspector Saifur Rehman of the National Highway Motorway police and made away with cash and gold ornaments.

In a second incident, two armed motorcyclists had deprived Malik Ijaz Tahir, an advocate, of cash and his mobile phone after robbing his house.

In the Wah Model Town, thieves stole a motorcycle from Tahir Aziz. Residents of the area say armed robberies, purse snatching and other street crimes have become frequent in the locality and that the police are not doing anything to address the problem.

They have urged the regional police officer and the city police officer of Rawalpindi to address the issue and to take action against the concerned police officials who are not protecting the lives and property of the residents in their jurisdiction.
