LAHORE: We should adopt preventive measures to save ourselves from dengue andotherdiseases.

This was advised by Postgraduate Medical Institute and Ameeruddin Medical College Principal Prof Dr Sardar Alfareed Zafar while leading an awareness walk about dengue at the Lahore General Hospital on Tuesday.

LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmud Salahuddin, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, patients and people from different walks of life participated in the walk.

Prof Dr Sardar Alfareed Zafar said it was our collective responsibility tokeep environment clean and safe from mosquitoes which was the basic reason for dengue.

He said all-out steps were being taken for dengue patients but it was the duty of the doctors and medical staff to inform the general public and patients to adopt maximum preventive steps to save themselves from this chronic disease.

The principal advised that special care should be taken to drain out stagnant water from houses and shops so that no larva be there whichultimately resulted in dengue. He appealed to the public to participate in the campaign for clean and green environment.
