Commissioners to develop database of illegal foreigners

LAHORE: The Punjab Anti-Terrorism and Hardened the State Committee, a body focused on combating terrorism and extremism in Punjab, has instructed the divisional commissioners to develop databases of foreigners illegally staying in the province and those studying in different educational institutions.

The committee meeting chaired by Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bherth was attended by Home Secretary Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, AIG Chaudhry Sultan, Special Branch DIG Khurram Shahzad, CTD DIG Usman Gondal, divisional commissioners and other officers concerned. The meeting was held at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on Wednesday.

In light of the National Action Plan (NAP), the committee decided to issue a WhatsApp number for the help and guidance of the Chinese nationals.

The meeting was told that the verification of the workforce for different projects was in progress.

It was informed that six assault drones were being deployed in the province`s bordering districts, including D G Khan, to combat terrorists.

The meeting was also informed that the passenger buses carrying Punjab residents from Balochistan had been provided security.

It was stated that the construction work on 14 joint check-posts was in progress.

The meeting was told that the Punjab CTD conducted some 2,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs), besides 25,641 combing operations.

The CTD officers and officials were provided 137 training opportunities, it was told. Staff Reporter
