KARACHI: Ahtesham Humiyoon, Asad Zaman and Kashan Tariq won their men`s quarter-final fixtures during the first Sohail University National Tennis championship here at the DA Creek Club on Wednesday.

Ahtesham, who won the men`s national title last week, remained on the track to add another title in his record as he downed Raahim Vegar 8-4 to advance into the semi-finals.

Asad, who won the U-18 title earlier this year, defeated Inam Qadir 8-4 while Kashan Tariq crushed Bilal Soomro 8-2.

Ahtesham and Asad later teamed up to defeat the duo of Nabeel Qayum and Taimur Ansari 6-3, 6-3 in the U-18 doubles semi-final.

In the women`s last-eight match Dalia Ashraf routed Sakina pir 8-2, while in the girls U-18 quarters, Bismal Zia and Romaisa Tanveer registered flawless 6-0, 6-0 wins over Tahreem Yousuf and Sakina, respectively.

Bismil also reached the U-14 final as she defeated Eman Shahbaz 4-1, 4-1 and will next face Romaisa Malik, who beat Shahnoor Umer with an identical scoreline, in the decider.
