KARACHI: The Jahangir Khan PSA Series Challenger Squash Tournament witnessed its first major upset on Wednesday as wildcard entrant Hassan Paracha of Sindh eliminated fourth seed Q asim Noorani of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in straight games here at the Jahangir Khan Sports Club.

Hassan dominated Noorani 3-0 (11-7, 11-2, 11-2) and won the match in just twelve minutes to secure a quarter-final berth.

Punjab`s Sakhiullah, Varun Asif and Khagan Malik also won their second round matches.

Sakhiullah edged Sindh`s Abdul Basit 3-2 in a closely contested match while both Varun and Khagan won 3-0 against Israr Ahmed (SNGPL) and Naveed Rehman (Sindh), respectively.

In other second-round matches Tayyab Aslam (SNGPL) defeated department-mate Mohammad Zaman 3-0 and Army`s Azan Ali overcame Abdul Basit (SNGPL) 3-0 Saddam ul Haq, representing Army, was also among the victors as he trounced Sikandar Khan of Sindh 3-0.

The quarter-final matches will will be contested on Thursday. The tournament concludes on July 26 with a $3,000 prize purse.-Sports Reporter
