WE, the people of Mirpur, have been ignored for long. It is a simple tale of three cities Mirpur, Dadyal and Chakshwari. Ahuge chunk of population lives in the UK and there is a substantial flow of foreign exchange from abroad. But sadly, basic infrastructure is not provided to us either by the government of Pakistan or by the government of Azad Kashmir.
Thereisno airport, andlittle orno medical facilities and education. Seventy per cent of Mirpuris live abroad and we have no airport in spite of promises made by consecutive governments. Do we not deserve an airport, decent roads and a railway line? The building for the university of science and technology was given by the people of Dadyal but nothing came of it. A 100-bed hospital in Chakshwari, promised by the government of Azad Kashmir, seems to be floating in the air. The Prime Minister of Pakistan promised a cadet college in Dadyal and an airport in Mirpur but the projects never saw the light of the day.
