FAISALABAD: A 52-yearold man gunned down his wife before committing suicide reportedly over poverty in Muzafar Colony, Nawabanwala Road on Tuesday.

DSP Factory Area Malik Khalid told Dawn that Ghulam Muhammad had settled the marriages of his two daughters that were scheduled after two months. It appeared that the family was disturbed because of the expected expenses on the marriages. On Tuesday Ghulam Muhammad went into a room along with his wife Fahmida, 50, where he first shot her then himself with a pistol.

Ghulam Muhammad had six children--two sons and four daughters--all are married except the two daughters.

Initially, it was not clear that who had killed the couple.

However, the situation got clear for police after the statement of Afzal and recovery of pistol cleared the reason of the incident.
