OKAR A: A girl student, Iqra, was run over and killed in a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday when she was crossing the road near village Shireen Bhuthanna in Depalpur. She died at the scene.

THEFT: Thieves stole valuables from the residence of Civil Judge Saeed Awan at the District Complex Judicial Colony late on Monday.

Police said two mobile phones, a battery and Rs2,500 were missing. Sadar police have yet to register a case. Lawyers of the district bar boycotted courts in solidarity with the judge.

NGO: Non-government organisation Alif Elan held a meeting with reporters at the Okara Press Club.

NGO representatives said they were working for the improvement of education and increasing enrollment of children aged 5 to 16 years in schools.
