SWABI, Oct 23: Senior Central Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Engineer Amir Muqam on Wednesday demanded announcement of schedule for local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said any delay in doing so would be unacceptable to the people.
Talking to reporters here, the PML-N leader said his party would sweep the local body elections in the province as the myth of the PTI popularity had busted.
He said the Nawaz Sharif-led government would put the country on the track of economic and political stability. `A policy for socioeconomic turnaround has been finalised and will be executed in the days ahead for the people`s welfare,` he said.
Mr Muqam said the PML-N government didn`t believe in giving artificial socioeconomic relief to the people and it rather wanted a complete overhaul of weak economy.
`The (Pakistan) Muslim League does not want to keep the people in the dark as other parties did in the past. We would share all vital decisions and policies with the people,` he said.
The PML-N leader said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would steer the country out of socioeconomic crises.
He said the PMIzN government would live up tothe people`s expectations and resolve economic, political, energy, terrorism and law and order problems it had inherited from its predecessor led by PPP.
Mr Muqam said the government had given top priority to maintaining law and order, reviving economy and resolving energy crisis.
He said assuming power after the May 11 elections, the government had already taken numerous initiatives for resolving serious socioeconomic issues, while result-oriented measures would be taken to fulfil PML-N`s election pledges.
The PML-N leader said the PML-N leadership had strived to strengthen democratic values and all institutions weakened by wrong policies of the former government in the country.
`We`ll put the country on the track of economic and political stability in the next five years,` he said.
Mr Muqam alleged that the previous PPP and ANP governments were corrupt.
