Vacant commercial plots in Hayatabad Govt directs owners to start construction

PESHAWAR, Oct 23: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has directed the owners of all vacant commercial plots in Hayatabad to construct buildings there otherwise their allotment will be cancelled.

The directives were issued here on Wednesday by Provincial Minister for Local Governments Inayatullah Khan to the director general of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) during a meeting.

According to a source, the minister directed the PDA director general to issue notice to the owners of the vacant commercial plots, allotted for schools, colleges and food outlets, to start construction work otherwise their plots would be cancelled.

`After the expiry of the notices and the deadline, PDA will automatically cancel the allotment without any further delay, the source and added that the minister had also ordered possible amendments in the bylaws in the best interests of the people.

Similarly, a statement issued here said that the minister had also asked for taking appropriate steps for security of the residents of Hyatabad, directing installation of close circuit television cameras in thearea.

Besides provision of other facilities, the minister directed construction of washrooms in all the commercial markets and installation of a complaint box in the area so that people could apprise the officials of their problems.

Talking to a delegation of the real estate agents at his office, the minister said that necessary amendments would be made in the bylaws so that the residents would not face problems in making minor unavoidable changes in their buildings.

On the occasion a joint committee of the realtors and PDA officials was also formed to pinpoint problems in Hayatabad Township and resolve the same timely.

The minister said that besides Hayatabad problems in Regi Model Town would also be resolved on priority basis. He added that provincial government was already working on resolution of other disputes.

He said that government was determined to solve the problems being faced by the public and restore beauty of Peshawar at the earliest.

The delegation was led by the association president, Mazhar Wakeel. PDA director general Sareer Ahmed and Shamim Khan were also present on the occasion.
