THIS is apropos the news report `Operation should have started yesterday`, says army chief` (Nov 21). The pronouncement of such a resolve is not new.
Repeated statements have been made by the military establishment recently, but action has been withheld against financiers, facilitators and backers of terrorism.
Every effort is being made by some politicians and bureaucrats to create obstruction in the operation. But the military establishment, too, has not come up with a counter-strategy.
Even if the corrupt political leaders, bureaucrats, business tycoons, bankers and money-changers are apprehended, the investigation and prosecution will be done by the much-politicised civilian agencies which get influenced.
If somehow the investigation and prosecution in certain cases does take place honestly, the matter will ultimately land up in court, where it takes years to decide cases.
The military establishment needs to come up with a road map about how to handle the mess.
