THIS is apropos your editorial `Militancy far from over` (Nov 22). Although the editorial has taken a few recent terrorist attacks to substantiate its claim, when we analyse the current situation overall, one can easily call it a fairly stable matter as far as the law and order situation is concerned.
However we should also be mindful of the ground reality that a complete elimination of terrorism will require a sustained effort at national level by armed forces, the government and the Judiciary. None of the three can achieve the ultimate goal alone without complimenting each other`s effort and in a cohesive action plan at the national level.
The recent statements by the army and the chief justice on the issue of governance has a lot to convey on their so-called unified approach. Is the government serious about speeding up the governance issue or adamant on taking aconfrontational course to dump the entire success achieved by the army, paramilitary forces and the police.
The solution lies in the unity of the political and military leadership towards early achievement of the overall peace and stability in the country and the judiciary in ensuring quick dispensation of justice.
Likewise, dispensing speedy justice within a couple of weeks through continued hearing in anti-terrorism and military courtsneeds tobe adopted.
