Youth urged to act collectively to make country strong

LAHORE: The chief minister`s adviser has urged the youth to think and act collectively in order to make the country strong, invincible and self-reliant.
Khwaja Salman Rafique expressed these views after distributing laptops among 71 postgraduate students of the University of Health Science (UHS) under Prime Minister`s Laptop Scheme at a ceremony on campus on Wednesday.
Expressing confidence in the tal-ent and potential of the educated youth, the adviser said they had the potential to make the country a progressive and welfare state as envisioned by the founding fathers.
He said the government had decided to distribute laptops among talented students of the country on merit without any quota or political involvement. The aim was only to provide better and latest facilities for education to deserving students.
Earlier, UHS Vice Chancellor retired Maj Gen Prof Muhammad Aslam said it was a great initiativeof the government to give laptops to the students and it was the duty of the youth to take advantage of the facilities provided by the government.
He said that the youth were the realassetofthe country andfuture of Pakistan lay in the hands of the young generation. He urged the students to use the laptops as an effective tool to bring about a positive change to society.
BDS RESULTS: The UHS announced results of the Second Professional BDS Annual Examination 2016. Out of the totalof 750 candidates from 12 affiliated dental colleges who sat the examinations, 547 got through, showing a pass percentage of 73.03.
According to the results notification, Saira Jabeen of Lahore Me dical and Dental College secured first position with 853 marks.
Ayesha Iqbal and Ayesha Ashraf, both from the Institute of Dentistry, CMH Lahore Medical College, got second and third positions securing 850 and 832 marks, respectively.
Supplementary exams will commence from Jan 12, 2017, according to the notification.
