SHANGLA: Residents of Chakesar here on Saturday held a demonstration where they demanded immediate arrest of a lawmaker of Kolai-Palas and another suspect, who have been nominated in the FIR of murder of district education officer Nawab Ali.

The protest was organised soon after chehlum was held for the slain officer.

Addressing the protesters, teachers of the committee set up to seek justice for the slain officer`s family, said that an MPA was nominated in the FIR by the police, but he had not been arrested.

They said that the government representatives, including regional police officer Hazara, had assured the committee and local jirga that all the nominated suspects would be arrested within a week. However, they said that the police failed to arrest MPA Mufti Ubaidur Rehman and another suspect even 40 days after the incident.

Subdivisional education officer, Chakesar, Sharafat Ali said that neither the government approved martyrs package nor had announced free education for the slain officer`s children.

The speakers demanded to name the Government Centennial Model High School, Chakesar, after Shaheed Nawab Ali.

They threatened to launch agitation if the nominated suspects were not arrested.

In another such case, residents of Khadang Chalcesar demanded of the Peshawar police to arrest the 1(illers of two brothers who were shot dead in Chamkani, Peshawar. Local residents and Shangla Nanbai Association told mediapersons on Saturday that the two brothers, both nanbais, were killed in their shop, but the suspect was still at large. Correspondent
