Coordination between federal, provincial govts to improve education stressed

ISLAMABAD: Participants at a workshop on Wednesday underlined the need for better coordination between federal and provincial education managers to bring improvement in education sector .

Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training organised Federal-Provincial Cooperation in Education workshop in Islamabad on Wednesday, in which experts discussed variousissues.

Officials of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK, Sindh, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan attended the workshop.

Additional Secretary (AS) Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry welcomed the participants and said that the Workshop was going to play an instrumental role in developing strong Federal-Provincial coordination.

He added that this cooperation will lead to accomplishment of projects` (Response, Recovery and Resilience in Education Projects-RRREP).

As Education also emphasised upon the need to have more of such interactive Workshops so that Federal Ministry is able to incorporate the requirements of provinces while designing its projects`interventions.

He further shed light on significant steps of Ministry to facilitate the most marginalized communities in the country through modern and contemporary practices. Dr Chaudhry added that these initiatives will provide students of every stratum, the access to additional and useful learning methods which make education expedient.

Technical sessions of the workshop started with the knowledge sharing by the provinces which involved lessons learnt during the ASPIRE project implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes comprising procedures, evidences and dashboards and challenges being faced in the execution.

Subsequently, ministry`s officials shared the fiduciary requirements for the World Bank projects involving disbursements processes, provincial allocations and role of federal and provincial government in this regard.

Detailed overview of Draft National Distance Education Strategy was also given which was followed by roundtable discussion on provincial education challenges and distance education priorities.

Moreover, consultation on Teachers` Training Programme was carried out by making working groups which involved making of draft implementation plans with budget and activities.Staff Reporter
