New KP tourism policy okayed

PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has finalised a new tourism policy for the province, which will be made public at the start of the next year.

A TCKP press release issued here on Tuesday said that an important meeting in that regard was held with the private sector tour operators in Islamabad to get their input and suggestions for the promotion of tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Secretary tourism, sports, museum and youth affairs Dr Aftab Akbar Durrani chaired the meeting. Representatives of the private tour operators, including Yousaf Akhtar, Saeed Jadoon of Saiyah Travel & Tours, Irfanullah Baig of Waljis Travels, Syed Sajjad Shah of Cox & Kings Pakistan, Naik Nam of PATO, Maqsood-ul-Mulk of Hindukush Trails and Amir Khalid of YR Booking were in attendance.

The press release said that the TCKP officials and representatives of the private sector tour agencies thoroughly discussed various aspects as to how to promote tourism activities in the province.

The participants also discussed the problems being faced by the tour operators in bringing foreign tourists to the KP and to find solutions through a one-window facility.—Bureau Report
