36 suspects held in Abbottabad search operation

ABBOTTABAD: The police on Tuesday arrested 36 people, majority of them Afghans, during a door-todoor search operation in parts of the district here.

DPO Mohammad Ali Gandapur said that during the search operation, which has been continuing for the last four days, some suspected terrorists had also been arrested who were being interrogated by the counter terrorism department. Mr Gandapur said that so far 36 suspected people had been held during the search operation.

He said that the search operation would also be conducted in Galyat, Havelian and other areas of the district on random basis especially on the tips provided by the police informers.

The police official said that cases had also been lodged against the owners of guest houses, hotels, private hostels and houses for not providing details of the visitors and tenants to the police.

He also said that crackdown had been launched against the non-registered vehicles, particularly motorbikes, and asked the owners to update the vehicles` documents to avoid action.

He said that the police had also devised a security plan for sensitive installations, government offices and educational institutions.

`Leaves of all police officials have been cancelled and a special monitoring cell directly under his control has been set up,` said the DPO.

ELECTION PETITION REJECTED: Theelectiontribunal has rejected the writ petition filed by Ali Asghar Khan of PTI from PK-45, who had lost the election to Sardar Mohammad Fareed of PML-N in the by-polls held in June 2014. The seat had been vacated by Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan after assuming the charge of KP Governor.
