Governor welcomes move to establish cervical cancer registry

KARACHI: A healthcare research organisation and body of medical science professionals have joined hands to conduct groundbreaking research and establish a registry on the critical subject of cervical cancer.
Top office-bearers of Pharmevo Research Forum and Society of Gynecology Oncology (SOGO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the Governor House the other day, aimed at collaborative efforts to conduct research in key the area of medical science.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori welcomedthe partnership of Pakistan`s top healthcare bodies, calling it a significant development in the field of research and cancer treatment.
`I hope that this partnership would bring tremendous benefits to cancer patients,` he said. `We need to make cancer treatment more economically accessible to every segment of our society. This initiative isn`t just a significant development in health sciences but also a major step towards our goal to provide options of economical treatment to inflation-hit people. I expect more healthcare bodies to fol-low and execute such ideas.
Earlier, the MoU was signed by Dr Masood Javed and Dr Al Fareed Zafar.
They said that the central theme of the MoU revolved around the collaborative efforts to conduct ground-breaking research and establish a registry on the critical subject of Cervical Cancer.
The initiative, they said, directly aligned with their corporate vision of creating a healthier society. They said that the partnership also promised to redefine standards in Cervical Cancer research.
