Judicial officer manhandled

KASUR: A judicial officer was manhandled at a cellular company’s franchise and then at a local police station, after he allegedly tried to jump a queue for biometric verification of his SIM in Pattoki police precincts.

Police have entered a case against 12 suspects involved in the incident and raids are being conducted for their arrest.

According to police, the officer who is a resident of Pattoki, went to the franchise on Quaid-i-Azam Road on Monday.

As there was a long queue of subscribers wanting to get their SIMs bio-metrically verified, the officer had to wait for his turn for a long time.

Finally, losing his patience, the officer got out of the queue and introduced himself to the franchise staff, but he told to wait.

This led to an exchange of arguments, resulting in a scuffle between the franchise staff, including security guard and the officer who was manhandled.

Police were called who took him to Pattoki city police station where he was again manhandled. Later, when the officer proved his identity, the police realised their mistake and after apologising for their conduct offered him tea.
